Art Pharmacy and The Gandara Center
Art Pharmacy has partnered with The Gandara Center to provide social prescribing services aimed at supporting older adults – specifically those aged 55 and older living in Springfield, Massachusetts –who may be at risk for substance use disorders and are experiencing social isolation or loneliness. Through this collaboration, Gandara identifies and refers eligible individuals, while Art Pharmacy delivers arts-based health interventions designed to enhance well-being and reduce social disconnection. The partnership is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, ensuring no cost to participants or Gandara. The initiative is further supported by the Education Development Center (EDC), which provides technical assistance and co-leads implementation efforts. Together, these organizations aim to improve health outcomes for underserved older populations by addressing the social health needs through community-based, non-clinical engagement.
